Calamigos Ranch Engagement Session | Alice and Nick
Alice and Nick will be married this May at the stunning Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, California and I absolutely cannot wait. We chose to shoot the Engagement Session at their venue to get an idea of the best spots for light on their wedding day. I don’t know if you guys know this but I have a thing with light coming through trees (who doesn’t?) and this venue is covered in gorgeous, magical oak trees. Shooting here is pretty much my version of heaven.
Often times, when I direct my clients to “smize” , aka smiles with your eyes, they have no idea what I’m talking about. Not these two! The “smize” game is strong with Nick and Alice! I loved how intensely they were both able to connect with my lens when I asked them to look to me. They seem to exude sophistication and style in their expressions.
Alice chose a feminine, cream dress with off the shoulder details by Reformation for their session. It had the perfect amount of movement and caught the backlight beautifully. She looked like an angel. Nick looked sophisticated and dapper in a classic grey suit with a crisp, white button up. I tell my Engagement clients to dress choose wardrobe that feels like something they would wear to an upscale dinner party or fancy date night. Most importantly, I tell my couples to make sure they feel confident and comfortable in what they choose to wear at their session.
Alice’s hair and make up was done by the team at Kelly Zhang Studio. They do an amazing job with bridal make up that contours and still looks natural. I’ve worked with them many times and always know they’re going to do fantastic work.
Alice and Nick were so much fun to photograph and I’m confident their wedding day is going to be incredible. Check out this Manhattan Beach Engagement Session for more like this!
