Michele and Josh | Venice Beach Canals Engagement Session | Venice Beach, CA

I met Michele years ago when I had the opportunity to photograph for her online publication, L.A. Lady. I remember meeting with her over coffee and feeling so impressed with her vision which focused on featuring female entrepreneurs. She wanted to build a platform for L.A.’s most influential women and help tell the story of how they achieved their success. She really was ahead of her time in wanting to empower female industry leaders and I respect her deeply for her mission to do so.

You can imagine my excitement when I heard from Michele years later with the news of her engagement. Hearing her talk about her fiancé Josh brought a big smile to my face. The love they share is so pure and genuine. It’s completely obvious these two share a mutual respect for one another that spans beyond love into a deep friendship as well.

For their Engagement Session, Michele and Josh wanted to capture the Venice Beach vibe that they know and love so much. We began their session at the Venice Beach Canals, taking advantage of the vibrant hues and notorious bridge locations. Their Mini Golden Doodle, Milo, even made an appearance and loved every minute of his time in front of the camera with mom and dad.

The Venice Beach Canals truly is a one of a kind location with a huge amount of variety to offer. From the palm tress to the eclectic homes along the water, it doesn’t get anymore California than this!

For our second location, we wandered over to the beach along the famous Venice Beach boardwalk. Michele and Josh looked like they were walking along the sand after a romantic dinner date. Michele’s lavender slip dress was the perfect style for the relaxed, chic California vibe they were going for. I adore the way the fabric of her dress created a beautiful movement as it billowed in the windy beach air.

We got lucky with an absolutely incredible, pink sunset that took my breath away! Given that our session was the day before Valentine’s Day, I had to grab a quick shot of the famous “Venice” sign decorated especially for the occasion. What a perfect way to celebrate love!

Michele and Josh will be tying the knot with an intimate ceremony at Wayfarer’s Chapel this September followed by a reception at the beautiful Terranea Resort. I’m counting down the days!
